Welcome to lesson one of Tabla training. In this lesson, Pervez Masih taught how to count the beat on the fingers. Every measurable thing in this world has some kind of unit which is used to measure it. In tabla, we use our hands for counting the beat. The four lines on a finger are used to count. Total sixteen lines are on our four fingers. Thumb is used as a needle on a clock. Our thumb moves on the fingers as a needle moves inside a clock. This lesson will help Tabla students to get an idea of how beat is counted on fingers. Nowadays many modern applications are also available for our phones which can be used to practice the Tabla.
